When we receive a cylinder head for a valve job, it undergoes the following reconditioning steps:

• disassembly
• hot tanking and chemically derusting of components
• glass beading of exterior (if desired, to remove stains and old unwanted paint)
• glass beading of combustion chambers and ports
• glass beading of valves
• inspection of valves and guides
• facing of valve face and stems
• cutting of valve seats to 3 angles on our Serdi machines
• vacuum testing of each seat to ensure sealing
• installation of valves and springs

Additionally:

• Cutting of 5 angle valve seats is available
• Valves can be back-cut
• Pressure testing services are available

We port and polish your heads to your specifications and check on our Superflow 110 flow bench. Concepts on Wheels offers both mild port service (a clean-up of the ports) and full performance (a more aggressive port service). Includes a 3-angle valve job (see Valve Jobs) and resurfacing.

After a throttle body has been bored, the intake manifold must be matched to the new bore. Similarly, after the cylinder head has been ported, the intake manifold must be matched to the new port dimensions. Concepts on Wheels offers both these services. The intake is bored to match the throttle body to ensure precise fitting, and the intake ports on the manifold are skillfully matched by hand.

When there is too much clearance between the valve and guide, Concepts on Wheels can remove and replace guides. Guides are honed to fit the valves.

We can install new seats. Pricing includes removal of the old seat, installation of the new seat and cutting the seat to 3 angles. Price breaks are given to multiple seat installations.

Concepts on Wheels can knife edge any one-piece crank for the purpose of lightening, and we can perform a micro-polish on the main and rod journals.

Concepts on Wheels has 5 Kwik-Way Boring Bars with the ability to bore cylinders ranging from 1.375" to 9". We can bore both inline and V blocks and hone them to the piston manufacturer's clearance specifications. During honing, the bore is checked using a bore gauge at the top mid and centre sections of each cylinder to confirm uniformity. Each cylinder is bored and fitted to each piston. Cylinders can be honed to a standard cross-hatch pattern or to a pro-fit finish. If the bore has been damaged excessively or no more piston oversizes are available, Concepts on Wheels can resleeve blocks (as described above). Pricing for resleeving includes replacing the sleeve, boring the cylinder as described above, and resurfacing.

We perform resurfacing on our Winnona Van Norman SM5000 resurfacing machine in increments of .001". We can resurface any type of engine block and cylinder head - whether it's made of aluminum, cast iron, steel, or a combination of all three.

Rods can be rebushed for free floating pins, and the big ends can be re-sized.

Throttle body boring is available. Each throttle body has its exterior glass beaded. It is bored and honed to fit the new brass butterfly - to our specifications or yours. Includes cutting and polishing a new taper. The Concepts on Wheels team can bore most throttle bodies. After we bore a throttle body, we match the intake manifold to the new bore.

Flywheels can be lightened, balanced and resurfaced.
